Sarah Wood, violin
Violinist Sarah Wood is a regular substitute musician with the San Francisco Symphony, and is also a frequent recitalist, chamber musician and orchestral leader. She is a founding member of the Circadian String Quartet, a Bay Area group known for its innovative programming, and also holds tenured positions as Assistant Principal Second of the Berkeley Symphony and acting Assistant Concertmaster of the California Symphony. Sarah has appeared as soloist with the Music in the Mountains Festival Orchestra, the Villa Sinfonia, Panache & the Icicle Creek Chamber Orchestras. Internationally, she has performed as a chamber musician in the Netherlands, Tunisia, and in Chile on Easter Island. Sarah earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in violin performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder where she studied with the Takacs String Quartet’s Karoly Schranz, Lina Bahn, & Andrés Cardenés, and also holds a B.M. and M.M. in violin performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music where she was a student of Paul Kantor & William Preucil. A California native, she also formerly studied with Zaven Melikian and Robin Sharp.
